Activities at Licola


(This activity can only be run by qualified instructors) In this challenge by choice activity, participants climb the stairs to the top of our abseiling tower. One by one, participants are helped into a harness by the instructors and when they are ready they slowly step back over the edge and climb down the tower. Instructors carefully support and guide each child to navigate their way slowly down the wall to the rapturous applause of their classmates, bringing a great sense of achievement.


(This activity can either be run by our qualified instructors or by a visiting teacher. Teachers will be given a briefing at the start of the camp on how to run a safe and fun session)Our outdoor archery range provides an opportunity to develop dexterity, control and precision! Two different target ranges are geared to every age group and students will be given bows and arrows to match their individual strength and size.


(This activity is not available to all groups, please enquire) Creativity is catered for in a special art & craft building (equipment includes screens for screen printing).


(This activity is available to all groups) Added in 2012 to the amazing choice of activities this low level climbing initiative was purpose built to the old kiln used during the saw mill days in the 1950s and 60s. It is a climbing activity that runs for 14.5 metres and can be run by teachers or volunteers. It can be used as a forerunner to the main climbing tower and briefed as a warm up activity to learn holds and climbing techniques or be used as a fun activity with a number of group initiatives including Flag Tag, Follow the Leader, Blind Climb, Shark Attack, or get Dressed! The holds on the wall are various colours so that participants can choose their own level of difficulty from green holds being the most and therefore easiest through amber and on to red with the fewest holds and most difficult.


(This activity is available to all groups) On a cold evening, where better than telling stories around the camp fire. (Fire restrictions will apply). Cooking damper day or night is also a fun new experience for many groups.


(This activity can only be run by a qualified instructors) There is an incredible opportunity for schools to camp out, whether its on top of Mt Eliza or for younger students in a nearby paddock, we can tailor a program to your needs. We’ve just expanded our fleet of tents and sleeping mats, including a large central tent for teachers also.


(This activity can only be run by qualified instructors) An opportunity to learn basic canoeing skills and develop confidence in water through a variety of games and exercises that take place in the safety of our flat water section of the Macalister River. Some short excursions can also take place upstream.


(This activity can only be run by qualified instructors) Our climb tower was completed in Feb of 2017 and is one of the most amazing climbing towers out there! With four sides and 5 different climbs, incorporating overhangs, slopes, outcroppings and even a chimney, this tower has something for all climbing abilities. The tower alone is enough to justify a trip to Licola.

The team to stack all of their crates first wins!NOT CURRENTLY AVAILABLE (This activity can only be run by qualified instructors) A great opportunity for team work and overcoming fears with lots of encouragement.


(This activity is available to all groups) Disc golf. The fastest growing sport in this country. There are only a handful of professionally built courses in the state and ours is designed and created by the Australian Champion. It is a fantastic activity for the whole family or for your school. Great for all ages you can bring your own disc and play for free or borrow one of our flying discs on the payment of a small returnable deposit. Score cards can be picked up at the office.


(This activity is available to all groups) With HUGE outdoor areas including our Lower and Upper Ovals and our vast array of outdoor sporting equipment – Field Games are always a popular option.


(This activity can only be run by qualified instructors) This is extreme exhilaration! Mustering all their confidence, determination and adrenaline, students step off the platform and go zipping down into the valley below – an experience not to be forgotten!


(This activity is available to all groups) Gaga is an incredible game that can include up to 30 children at once. It’s a variation of dodgeball, played with one ball in the pit. The aim is to strike the other players with the ball below the knee to get them out. The last player standing wins! This is also a great free activity for all guests.


(This activity is available to all groups, on request) The Chess, Hookey Boards, Draughts, Hand Ball targets, Connect 4, and Snakes & Ladders have been a storm with visiting groups. Excellent for free time, when there is any. Because these games have been so loved, in 2011 we built more including 3 puzzles. Available to all come and test your mental agility and solve our in-ground giant puzzles.


(This activity can only be run by qualified instructors) Voted the most exhilarating, adrenaline rush, of our activities! The thrill of achievement is powerful, increasing confidence and personal achievement through conquering fears of heights or speed. Participants conquer their fears of height or speed as they are harnessed in and hoisted into the air. Overcoming nerves, they must release the rip cord and shoot through the air. An exhilarating ride in complete safety.


(This activity must be run by Qualified Instructors only) Twenty five feet off the ground and safe in harnesses and helmets, children navigate an exhilarating course of ropes and harnesses that will really test their nerve and skill. Elements include the Burma Bridge, the Criss Cross, Swinging Vines, Train Tracks and the Dangle Duo. The Dangle Duo is an excellent team building activity whereby partners must assist each other side by side to get to the top of the giant ladder – each student has their own safety harness, helmet, and belay rope.


(This activity is available to all groups, on request) The massive Sherlock Stadium has (almost) every indoor stadium game you can imagine including basketball, hockey, cricket, badminton, volleyball, bowls, and table tennis. This is a fantastic facility for wet weather games, mini Olympics or any of the games mentioned above. This area also has male and female showers and toilets.


Pupils work in small teams to both analyse and ultimately solve a number of clearly defined problems. This involves working with a variety of puzzles, tasks and activities. Teamwork, planning and critical decision making are essential skills to build upon in order to achieve success.


(This activity must be run by Qualified Instructors only) An exercise not just in balance but also in confidence too. Carefully following the instructor’s guidance, participants complete a pole climb followed by a leap to a mid-air suspended target. Your class will be talking about it for days. Note: Age/ height/ weight restrictions may apply.


(This activity can only be run by qualified instructors) A new facility purpose built in 2008 for our Special Needs Camps. Jointly sponsored by the Jack Brockhoff Foundation and Variety Victoria.


(This activity is available to all groups) Low ropes are perfect for all ages, and low ropes courses encourage communication and co-operation, and helps children build confidence and develop balance and co-ordination. Our low ropes course will consist of 15 elements, each offering a different challenge at different degrees of difficulty.


NOT CURRENTLY AVAILABLE The Maze was added to our program to offer a Goal Setting session to our program. It can be used for Years 7 and above but works best for older school age groups and above. The session includes a group discussion on individual dreams, goals, and aspirations, closely facilitated by one of our instructors. The group is then blindfolded and taken through a ``maze`` in search of a ``dream``.


(This activity is available to all groups) Test your skill and accuracy on our unique and fun mini golf course. From the viewing platform on the hill behind the camp you can see the course and what it spells. Refurbished in 2010 this is now a more challenging course.


(This activity can only be run by qualified instructors - however, guests can bring their own bikes)Reintroduced to our program in 2010 with a training course built on site. Instructors will take groups through various activities designed to have fun but more importantly to test the group and assess their ability before heading out up Target Creek Road or along the Macalister River.


(This activity is available to all groups) With a view to increasing the number of activities on site that can be run by school staff we added the Obstacle Course in late 2010. This has been well received and enjoyed by hundreds of children already. In addition to all of our adult groups such as Football Training Camps have also utilised the activity too.


NOT CURRENTLY AVAILABLE After learning basic compass skills, children must find their way to various points around the centre using only a compass and directions. Orienteering helps your pupils develop important initiative and leadership skills.


(This activity can only be run by qualified instructors) The brand new climbing tower has an incredible element to it, the Quick Jump. The Quick Jump allows participants to climb the tower, walk across the top and step off the other side for an arrested descent to the ground! This is an incredible experience and shouldn’t be missed.


( This activity can only be run by qualified instructors) This is another great activity for learning the intricacies of team working, leadership, planning and problem solving, but more importantly how not to get wet! Pupils work together to design and build their raft out of barrels, logs and rope and also take to the water to test out their craft.


(This activity is available to all groups, in summer) A popular choice in the summer, children take part in competitions and games in our outdoor swimming pool. This was refurbished in 2017 and has male and female changing rooms. In addition to also being great for weekenders too.


(This activity is available to all groups) Everyone likes a trampoline... and well, we have three in ground trampolines. We ask that children are always supervised but another great time filler. In addition to also being great for weekenders too.


(This activity is available to all groups on request) The indoor and outdoor Volleyball pitches bring a little of that light-hearted beachside atmosphere to centre life. Players work in teams and once the initial skills have been mastered, it is only boundless energy that can really secure victory. Our outdoor court was rebuilt in 2010.
