Fishing and Hunting in Licola

Fishing and hunting in Licola have become increasingly popular over the last few years. With multiple destinations within a short drive of Licola, and the Macalister River within eyesight from the cabins. Use Licola as your base as you spend your days and/or nights out exploring the beautiful surroundings.

With the option to hire the entire site, or just a cabin or 2, and to self-cater, or have us cater for you depending on group sizes.

Fishing

With the Fisheries fantastic restocking program of the Macalister River since the floods in 2007 we have gradually seen the River itself come back to health. The trout have taken full advantage of this and we are now seeing third and fourth-generation naturals.

Each October, Licola hosts the Annual Heyfield Fishing Competition. Taking place over a great weekend, individuals compete to see what they can get, with loads of prizes on offer. What better way to chill out, relax with some friends and catch yourself some fish! Accommodation books out quickly, so be sure to book your stay ASAP!

Hunting

Hunting Groups are invited to make Licola a base camp for your hunting group/party needs. Licola is based at the door step to the high country and offers great opportunities for all hunting parties. After a hard day in the bush, relax in relative comfort with our cabin accommodation, the fire pit, and our scenic location – get a good feed with self-catering or catered options depending on group size.
