    Licola Update June 12, 2025

    The current lease for the Licola Caravan Park and General Store will conclude on January 31, 2026. Ms O’Donnell, the current lessee, was notified twelve months in advance that the lease would not be renewed. We appreciate that this decision may be disappointing, and understand that it has been upsetting for her.

    In response, Ms O’Donnell has chosen to share her views publicly via social media, including commentary about Licola and its Board. While we respect her right to express her opinion, we are concerned that some of the information being circulated does not reflect the full facts and has caused unnecessary distress and has impacted our people and the important charitable work we do.

    To clarify:

    • Lions Village Licola Inc. (Licola) was not involved in any negotiations between Ms O’Donnell and the previous lessee.

    • Licola was not asked to approve, nor did it approve, any extension of the lease or new agreement.

    • If Ms O’Donnell was given incorrect information regarding a possible lease renewal, Licola had no involvement in that and cannot be held responsible.

    • If there were any misunderstandings or assumptions regarding a potential new lease, they did not originate from Licola.

    • Ms O’Donnell entered the lease with access to independent legal advice. The lease clearly states that renewal is at the Licola Board’s discretion.

    • The Board has a duty to act in the best interests of Licola, its operations, and its charitable mission. After careful consideration, the Board has decided not to offer a new lease beyond January 2026.

    From February 2026, the Licola Caravan Park and General Store will be operated directly by Licola. We remain committed to serving the community, and it will be business as usual moving forward.

    Exciting Upgrades to the Licola Caravan Park in 2026

    We’re thrilled to share some fantastic news about the Licola Caravan Park.  2026 marks a new chapter with major upgrades that make your stay even more comfortable, convenient, and enjoyable!

    What’s New in 2026:

    Starting February 2026, The Licola Caravan Park and General Store will be managed by Licola and it will be business as usual.  It will still be the friendly, down-to-earth place you know and love  – but with a few exciting improvements to make your visit even better.

    The General Store will feature an expanded range of takeaway food options, cold drinks, and all the essential gear for extended camping adventures. Whether you’re stopping in for a quick bite or stocking up for a few days in the great outdoors, you’ll find everything you need conveniently in one place.

    • 24-Hour Fuel Access:
    We will be introducing 24-hour fuel availability, providing peace of mind for travellers and locals alike. Whether you’re arriving late, heading out early, or need a quick top-up during your stay, fuel will be accessible any time of day or night.

     • New Powered Accommodation Sites:
    Will be adding a range of brand-new powered sites to meet growing demand. Whether you’re in a caravan, camper, or tent, these sites offer reliable power in a peaceful bush setting.

    • Access to Licola Wilderness Village Facilities:
    All guests staying at the caravan park will now be offered the opportunity to access selected facilities at Licola Wilderness Village. This includes recreation areas.  (Not an option during any school camps or private bookings).

    • Amenity Block Revamp:
    As part of the 2026 upgrades, the Licola Caravan Park will also see a much-needed revitalisation of the toilet and laundry amenities. Clean, modern, and more user-friendly.
